CountingEdge publishes evidence-first blackjack education; it does not promise that readers will beat the casino. This disclaimer explains the limits of the information on the site.

Gambling risk
Blackjack has short-term variance and, for a player without a verified advantage, a house edge. Basic strategy can reduce the casino’s advantage under specified rules but does not remove risk or guarantee a winning session. Card counting and other advantage-play methods also involve error, bankroll risk, changing conditions and casino countermeasures.
Never gamble with money needed for housing, food, health, transportation, debt or another essential. See the Responsible Gambling guide for limits, warning signs and support.
Education, not individualized advice
Content is general education and editorial analysis. It is not individualized legal, tax, financial, medical or mental-health advice. Sam’s experience as an independent gambling educator and casino player is described on the About Sam page; it is not an academic degree, professional certification, gambling license or promise of profit.
Mathematical examples
House-edge estimates, expected-loss examples, strategy charts and simulations depend on stated assumptions. A different blackjack payout, deck count, soft-17 rule, doubling rule, surrender rule, penetration, pace or side-bet pay table can change the result. Rounding and model limitations may also apply.
What a result does—and does not—tell you
A strategy recommendation compares the available actions under its stated rules. It does not predict the next card or promise that the recommended action will win. A correctly played hand can lose; judging the decision only by that one outcome confuses strategy with luck.
An expected-loss calculation describes an average under a model, not a spending cap or the most likely exact session result. For illustration, 100 initial wagers of $10 at an assumed 1% house edge produce $10 of expected loss: 100 × $10 × 0.01. Your actual result may be substantially higher or lower. The 1% figure is hypothetical, not a universal blackjack rate.
Check the bet basis before comparing figures. House edge is conventionally expressed against the initial wager; additional double-down and split stakes are already reflected in the modeled hand outcomes. See the expected-loss calculator for its inputs and limitations.
Laws, regulations and taxes change
Gambling availability, minimum age, operator licensing and tax treatment vary by location and can change after publication. A site accepting a registration or deposit does not prove that play is legal. Verify time-sensitive claims with the appropriate regulator or tax authority and seek qualified advice when needed.
